Swavesey Christmas Tree Festival 2015

The Crafty Ladies craft group in Swavesey and Swavesey WI came together to enter the 2015 Swavesey Christmas Tree Festival. The result was a Charitree, a tree covered with hand knitted and crocheted hats, scarves and gloves to be donated to charity after the Festival.

Congratulations are due because the Charitree was a prizewinner.

The adult items from the tree will be donated to Helping Huntingdon Homeless, the children's items are being saved for the 2016 Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. The cash prize has been donated to the Children's Society.

Although I do not live in Swavesey, do not belong to the Crafty Ladies or to Swavesey WI, I did want to support to this cause and donated a matching hat and scarf. The hat pattern was one I have had for decades and the scarf a basic make. The green yarns were acrylic DK specially bought to give a pleasing colour combination. A pom-pom was not added to the hat as I feel that the space it takes up in when packaged could be better used. Other members of the Dolphin Knitters also gave donations.

The hat is worked in rib and stocking stitch, the scarf in garter stitch.
