In 2014 I knitted with others outside All Saints Church in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, UK. There wasn't an event at the church in 2015. Having missed the 2014 event at Krafty Kats, 33 High Street, Huntingdon, this year I knitted inside the shop. The other knitters I already knew. One was someone I had been communicating with on Facebook but had never met, while another was, and still is, a dear friend. We would have sat outside the shop ~ in public ~ had the rain not been heavy and relentless.
The hospitality was excellent, with neverending cakes, tea and coffee. What we were knitting was varied, including scarves, baby clothes, socks and a throw, plus someone learning how to make crochet granny squares. Shop customers were interested in what we were doing, some expressing the desire to join a local knitting group.
I was working on a throw using Sirdar Kasha. One 300g ball of this soft and luxurious yarn makes a complete throw approximately 85cm/33½ inches wide and 103cm/40½ inches long, The throw pattern is on the ball band and is worked in stocking stitch with garter stitch borders. I am past the half way stage of the throw but the large ball doesn't seem to be any smaller.
As well as knitting, there was much chattering and laughter.
In the wake of the event, Krafty Kats is running Knit and Natter sessions alternating with Crochet and Chat sessions, beginning on Monday 22nd June 2015, 10am to 12noon. £1 per session (at time of writing). 01480 457704. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Krafty-Kats/298706859442
