The first was a pair of socks using Wendy Roam Fusion 4ply, 75% wool, 25% nylon on 2.5mm needles. A friend had made the first sock but decided not to continue. I completed the second of the pair a few weeks ago.
Following the death of his wife, a user of the community centre gave away her knitting yarns, patterns and equipment. A bag containing a partly made royal blue Aran-style sweater with more than enough yarn to finish it plus more than enough orange yarn to make another one was among the donations given to the centre. I finished the blue sweater and made an orange one the same, keeping to the intentions of the gentleman's wife.
The pattern was King Cole 7105 for Aran yarn. The yarn used was Spectrum Detroit Chunky, 100% acrylic (Courtelle). The deceased knitter had managed to make it knit to the correct tension and I was able to match it.
Both sweaters were sold at Hartford Village Autumn Fair on Saturday 18th October. The proceeds of the sales will be given to the community centre.
There is enough yarn to make two more child's sweaters, one in each colour, but I will look for a pattern using chunky yarn with a less bulky stitch pattern.
